Change or Edit Counter Profiles
What is a Counter Profile ?
Counter Profiles are Tables used by PSM to query the Printers for different available Counters. Similar to the Printerprofiles, PSM needs to know the SNMP OID's to read out the Counters. In most cases there are only a view different Profiles needed for one Manufacturer.
In Case of HP Printers, one single Profile is needed for all LaserJet Devices. We have already included the Profile for HP by default. This Profile should cover all your needs, and has been tested on a HP LaserJet 9500mfp. Since this is an A3 Multifunction Color Device, it has all the Counters. If you use the same Profile on a smaler LaserJet, for example a Monochrome LaserJet, the Profile will still work. The OID's for non existant Counters will be ignored.
Sometimes it is not easy to get the right SNMP-OID's for your Printers. Please ask the Printer Vendor or the Manufacturer directly to get the needed SNMP OID's.
Are Counter Profiles required ?
No. Counter Profiles are not required as long as you dont need this special Counters. PSM will still work for the Consumables Ordering Process without the Counter Profiles.
How and when are the Counter Profiles used ?
PSM uses the Counter Profiles only, if you have selected and associated a Counter Profile to one or more Printers (In the Printer Administration). If there is a Profile associated to a Printer, PSM will query the Counters at the same Time, when it queries the Consumables. You can always see the Detailed Counters, if you click on "view/change" in the Printer Administration. If enabled, the Counters are visible also in the monthly Statistic.
About the Counter Profile Management
Profiles can be viewed, changed created or deleted. However, PSM does not allow you to delete a Profile, if it has been associated to one or more Profiles.
