Define a new Printer Profile / Model

PSM allows various methods to add a new Printer Profile.

Import:

Sysprint offers you some pre-defined Profiles to be imported directly, or you can ask us to make new Profiles for you. These Files will have a File type of .Sysprint and can be imported directly here. You will see the imported Values in the Consumable Configuration and can save the Values.

Copy:

This method is useful, if you have the same Consumable in different Printer Models. An Example would be if you have HP Color LaserJet 9500 and Color LaserJet 9500mfp. Both Models are identical in regard to the Consumables. In this Case you might want to copy the existing Profile and give it a new Name.

Another useful Example is, if you want to have the same Printer Model, but different Threshold values, to assign them to different Printers. For example if you have two identical Color Laser Printers, but one of them is printing a lot of color Pages with high saturation. In this case it can be useful, if the Threshold Values on the Color Consumables are higher than normal.

If you want to copy an existing Profile you need to select first the Source Profile, click on Copy, give it a new Name, and modify the Levels you want. After that you can click on "Save".

Query:

We have implemented a method to get the Information's needed directly from a Printer, by typing it's IP Address or IP Host Name. However, this method is experimental, since it is possible to get the Part Descriptions out of the Printer by SNMP, but not the Part Number. HP has within the Part Descriptions the Part Number as the last 6 Digits, but not always! A Maintenance Kit for example has two Part Numbers, one for 100Volts and a one for 200Volts. So you need to make sure, that you have the right Part Number for your Environment. Of course you can overtype, before you safe it.

Also important: In some cases the Manufacturers have two different Toners for the same Printer, but with different Capacity (e.g. HP C8061X and C8061A). If there is an X Model, we recommend to use that, since it is in most cases the cheaper Solutions (compared Cost per Page).

Manual Method:

You can also specify everything manually.

However, this Method requires knowledge of the Printer MIB's, and all the other Information belonging to each Consumable Part. Any fault can result in wrong Orders or no order at all.

Things to take care of:

PSM verifies, it the Profile already exists in the Database and issues an Error Message if it is. Only change Printer MIBs if you know what you are doing!
